To My Tennis Family,
I want to welcome all the returning members and eagerly anticipate new members to the 2025 season of the Williamsport Women’s Tennis League. Our league flourished in 2024 with a total of 159 members that included 46 new members. I will be working on having more new members than last year. My goal is to find new members that have not played before. I need to have a stronger beginner division.
By participating in the league, it will give you the incentive to get out and play at least 6 matches or 12 matches if you are doing both singles and doubles. Match times are flexible because you set up times and places that are convenient for you and your opponent. Williamsport and surrounding areas have wonderful outdoor courts plus the indoor facilities that is second to none. Members of the WWTL not only live in the Williamsport area but also from State College to Danville, form Eagles Mere to Selinsgrove. Since this is the Williamsport Women’s Tennis league the courts in the Williamsport area should be the initial courts being use, but this is the beauty of this league. You can schedule your matches where and when that is convenient to all players.
Registration will be online this year. So, check your emails for WWTLEAGUE@outlook.com. The link to register online will be there but never fear for those of you that still want to register on the paper method, that will also be available. I will always be available to help you get registered.
The Website for the Williamsportwomenstennisleague.com will also have the link for online registration. The bylaws are also located on the website, which I encourage everyone to review. It is a great review of our mission and the rules and regulations of our league.
We are continuing the incentive program for referring a new member. We gave everyone that referred a new member last year a $10.00 gift certificate to the Central PA Tennis Center. What a WIN-WIN gift. MORE TENNIS!
Don’t miss our Open House on February 22nd. It is a fantastic opportunity for both returning and new members to mingle. We planned various activities across different courts, including forehand, backhand drills and fun court games led by our coach Jessica. Refreshments provided.
We are delighted to have Jessica Bower and Theresa Summerson back as our coaches. With the small cost of the registration fee, you get six two-hour coaching sessions- an unbeatable value. These sessions are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. One session in the morning and one in the evening. Convenient for everyone’s schedule. The start date is May 20th and ends June 25th. These sessions are located at Shaw park located behind Divine Providence Hospital.
Also, with the small registration fee, donations, and money we get from our fundraiser, this will be the 4th year that the WWTL will be giving out a scholarship to a high school girl that has played tennis and going on to college. They do not have to play tennis in college. Erica will be sending out the applications to the schools shortly
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
Yours sincerely,
Joyce McRae
