To My Tennis Family,
I want to welcome all the returning members and eagerly anticipating new members to the 2024 season of the Williamsport Women’s Tennis League. Our league flourished in 2023 year with 152 members that included 27 new members.
By participating in the league, it will give you the incentive to get out and play at least 6 matches or 12 matches if you are doing both singles and doubles. Match times are flexible because you set up times and places that are convenient for you and your opponent. Williamsport and surrounding areas have wonderful outdoor courts plus the indoor facilities that is second to none.
The WWTL board members have put their thinking caps on and have come up with new and exciting things happening for the 2024 WWTL year.
Registration will be online this year. So, check your emails for WWTLEAGUE@outlook.com. The link to register online will be there but never fear for those of you that still want to register on the paper method, that will also be available. I
will always be available to help you get registered.
We will be updating the Website for the Williamsportwomenstennisleague.com. The bylaws are already on the website, which I encourage everyone to review.
We’re introducing incentives for referring a new member, ranging from membership fee discounts to special prizes for those who bring in them most new members. Again, I am asking for new members that either have not played before or just starting so that we can fill the beginner and low intermediate divisions. In the years past the players in those divisions had to play the same people twice to make the 6 matches.
Don’t miss our Open House on February 10 th . It’s a fantastic opportunity for both returning and new members to mingle. We planned various activities across different courts, including forehand, backhand drills and fun court games led by our coach Jessica. Refreshments provided.
We are delighted to have Jessica Bower back as our coach. With the small cost of the registration fee, you get six two-hour coaching sessions- an unbeatable value. These sessions May 20th, running every Tuesday and Wednesday until June 26th.
Also, with the small registration fee and with the money we get from our clothing fund raiser, this will be the 3rd year that the WWTL will be giving out a scholarship to a high school girl that has played tennis and going on to college. They do not have to play tennis in college. Erica will be sending out the applications to the schools shortly.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
Yours sincerely,
Joyce McRae
